The RFP (request for proposals) process was successful and we received a number of qualified proposals for the structural and building envelope repairs. We are working on finalizing the contract and will be set to start construction on Station House as early as January.
Now it is time to get the building ready. As such, we are looking for help to get the following things ready:
- Work Bees – January 7 & 14 from 1pm to 3pm – general cleaning and prepping for garage sale
- Garage Sale – January 16 from 10am to 4pm – clearing out certain contents for construction
- Demolition Crew – some pre-construction demolition work needs to be done in the basement
- Fundraising Committee – need some help with fundraising ideas and organization
Please connect with us if you are interested in helping with any of the above.
While we were recently disappointed to not receive Canada150 funding ($240 000), we are still excited to move forward with upgrading Station House and relocating the Visitor Centre and Museum Complex in 2016. Without Canada150 funding, we simply won’t be able to get quite as much done on the building in the first year as we had hoped. However, we will continue to pursue grants to help fund the rest of the upgrades.
To date, we have been awarded $37 5000 in grant funding for the Station House project.
