Board of Directors

AdvantageHOPE is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, appointed by the District of Hope. Board Members represent a broad cross-section of community stakeholders to ensure that diverse community interests are represented.

Tanya Seltenrich – Board Chair

The beauty and lifestyle of this region is like no other, and the reason my family chose to live here. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to showcase Hope and the surrounding regions through my involvement in AdvantageHope. All of BC and beyond needs to know how amazing this area is.

Martin Hendriks – Vice Chair

Hope has so much potential for growth, which is why Tannis and I chose this town for our new business venture. I joined this board and the Downtown Revitalization Committee and hope my business management skillset will contribute positively to economic and tourism initiatives.

Tannis Hendriks – Secretary/Treasurer

We moved to Hope in December 2021 and love this town. Martin and I are opening a moto cafe here in summer of 2024. I volunteered on this board because I want to help this beautiful region to grow its tourism and business economy. I’m also part of the Downtown Revitalization Committee.

Councillor Angela Skoglund – District of Hope Liason

I have lived in Hope for 43 years, and raised two sons with my husband. I hold a business administration certificate from UFV, worked in banking for 20 years here in Hope and for Canada Post at the local post office. My AH appointment came through my position on the District of Hope council.

Councillor Scott Medlock – District of Hope Liaison

I have lived in Hope for 21 years. Hope is the best place in the Fraser Valley to raise a family and do business. I was appointed to the board because of my role as Councillor for the District of Hope. I have been involved with AdvantageHOPE since its inception.

Shayne Findlay – Director

Owner, Blue Lake Resort
For 10 years I have had the privilege of operating Blue Lake Resort near Boston Bar. I’ve fallen in love with the wild country surrounding Highway 1. Contributing the perspective of the businesses in the Fraser Canyon is my focus for this board.

Dean Lin – Director

I have been living in Hope for four years and love it here. I have worked in logistics, international development, and now social services. I joined AdvantageHope because I am trying to make my town of Hope more vibrant. I would like to attract more business investment and newcomers.

Gerry Wiebe – Director

With 35 years of executive leadership experience, I enjoy helping businesses accelerate growth and maximize operational efficiency through close collaboration with all stakeholders. I hope to contribute in a meaningful way to the growth of tourism and economic development in our region.

Heather Fader – Director

CAO, Chawathil First Nations
I am currently the Chief Administrative Officer with Chawathil First Nations. I am happy to have the opportunity to join AdvantageHope; to help with building strong relationships with the neighbouring communities, and increasing potential opportunities for economic growth.

Laura Reid – Director

We moved to Hope in January 2022. My background is in hotel management, tourism and small business ownership and I currently work for the Skawahlook First Nation running the Ruby Creek Art Gallery. I see a great opportunity for Hope to prosper as a tourist and day trip destination.
