Education

Hope, B.C. has two elementary schools, one secondary school, the Two Rivers Educations Center (which offers the TREC program), and one post-secondary school. The community is also home to the Fraser Valley Regional Library, as well as the Hope Mountain Centre for Outdoor Learning – a registered charity that aims to strengthen our connection with nature.

Health & Safety

The Fraser Canyon Hospital provides 24/7 emergency stabilization and care, general medicine, and ambulatory care services, residential and hospice care and is greatly supported by an integrated network of community-based programs and services.The Hope and Area Transition Society is a non-profit organization that provides client-centered programs for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence, substance use and/or homelessness, as well as individuals that require mental health services.Hope also houses many other health-centered organizations.

Hope Search and Rescue is one of the oldest search and rescue groups in British Columbia. Hope Search and Rescue responds to calls such as but not limited to, motor vehicle accidents, ground search and rescue, swift water rescue, avalanche response and road & low to steep slope rope rescue.

The District of Hope is served by a volunteer Fire Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Hope is also fortunate to have a Crime Prevention Society made entirely of local volunteers patrolling the streets to help stop petty theft and street crime.

Getting to and from Hope

Hope, B.C. is unique in that it sits at the nexus of the lower mainland, mountain areas and the interior of B.C.

Hope is often referred to as the “Gateway to the Mountains” due to its strategic location at the intersection of several major highways leading to popular mountain destinations.

Hope, B.C. is conveniently located at the hub of major highways and access roads:

The Trans-Canada Highway leads west through the Fraser Valley to Vancouver and North to the Interior and Cariboo regions
Highway 7, the Lougheed Highway, leads west through the Fraser Valley to Vancouver.
Highway 3, the Crowsnest Highway, crosses the Coast Mountains to Princeton and east to the Kootenays.
Just east of Hope Highway 5, the Coquihalla, leads north to the B.C. interior and the Okanagan.
To the south is the Silver Skagit Road; the only access road to the Skagit Valley, at the edge of the Cascade Mountains

Hope is approximately one hour away from the Abbotsford-Huntingdon USA Border Crossing and Abbotsford International Airport. Hope is approximately two hours away from the Vancouver International Airport. Hope also has a public transit service that transports residents to Aggasiz, Yale, Chawathil First Nations, and Silver Creek via stops stationed at downtown Hope and Kawkawa Lake.

When travelling to Hope, the ebus picks up and drops off riders at the Hope Visitor Centre, and there are numerous Electric Vehicle Stations available in the community to recharge electric vehicles.
